The Security Division of the Ocean County Department of Corrections is responsible for the care, custody and control of those incarcerated at the Ocean County Jail in a safe, secure and constitutional manner. This mission is achieved through close supervision of inmate housing and activities through both direct interpersonal interaction and remote surveillance methods.
Security is maintained by professional County Correction Officers who are on duty 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
These officers are responsible for monitoring and assisting in the movement of visitors, inmates, maintenance personnel, and Department personnel throughout the facility. They maintain general facility security, as well as provide for the welfare and safety of the community, staff and inmates. They maintain the highest professional standards and work closely in conjunction with other staff, as well as outside agencies and individuals.
Inmates committed to the Ocean County Department of Corrections are separated from one another through their assignments to dormitories in various multi-tiered housing units.
These dormitories include an enclosed dayroom where inmates may sit, watch television, shower and use telephones. Inmates are also afforded the opportunity to attend recreational sessions in both indoor and outdoor exercise yards and attend various educational classes and programs.
