What our kids say

Here at the Ocean County Juvenile Detention Center, our residents would like to tell you a little bit about themselves in the first person. So we’ve chosen 2 young people to introduce to you in a personal way. In their own words, they’ll share a little about their history, what life is like at the Center, and what they have learned along the way.

Our first speaker is a 14-year-old boy, who shares very personally about his life, and about some of the positive role models he has met here at the Center.

And our second speaker is a 17-year-old young woman, who nearly transformed her behavior from the first day we met her. Both of these young people have much to teach us about loss, healing, and hope.

Please check back with us from time to time, and we’ll introduce you to more of our courageous kids!
