Geoff Gallante Trio
Wednesday, February 8
8:00 p.m.
The Arts and Community Center of Ocean County College
Geoff Gallante is a young trumpet and cornet player, who would be considered exceptional at twice his age. He was a guest artist at a concert last season, thrilling the audience from the moment he stepped on stage and leaving with a standing ovation. His repertoire is classic jazz, and he plays well-crafted and original solos, in addition to the expected energy and enthusiasm. He is being discovered by festival and concert promoters around the country, so this is your chance to say you saw him in concert before he becomes famous! For this date, he will come up from Virginia with a trio. Any horn player will tell you that a trio is hard work, since you alone must carry the melody. Geoff Gallante is up to the challenge.

The Great Monarch Butterfly Race for the Border
Saturday, March 3
1:00 PM
Friends of Barnegat Lighthouse State Park
Every fall Monarch Butterflies from as far away as Canada set their sights on their winter home. The last of each year’s approximate four generations will over winter in only a very small part of Mexico’s mountainous central region. Like the generations which migrated before them, these butterflies have never flown the route nor have they seen the trees on which their great–grandparents over wintered last year, yet they still manage to find their way to the same spot. Amazing! To help track this amazing journey Dan and Luanne Weekes of Pollination Station, have raised, tagged and released over 1600 Monarch butterflies during the past four years. Join them for an interactive lecture on the Monarch Butterfly life cycle, its amazing seasonal migration and the conservation efforts of Pollination Station.

How You Can Reduce the Greenhead Fly Annoyance in Your Backyard

Friends of Barnegat Lighthouse State Park
Pam Rosenberg has recently retired after thirty years of teaching in northern New Jersey. Ten years ago, after she and her husband purchased a house at the shore near the Edwin B. Forsythe Wildlife Refuge, she was introduced to the ever-thriving greenheads. Based upon what Pam has learned from a Rutgers’ website, “Greenheads and You,” and the university’s extensive research on these blood-seeking insects, she will share her experience with building almost twenty greenhead boxes to help control the greenhead population on her property. She will describe how to build the boxes (that have caught hundreds of greenheads per box) with the hope that more people will do the same.

Inspired by a true story, "All My Sons" is a searing drama about an ordinary man--Joe Keller--a decent, hard-working and charitable man. But as the play unfolds, the facade crumbles. This 1947 play made Miller famous. "All My Sons" focuses on a businessman whose factory was responsible for sending defective airplane parts overseas resulting in the deaths of 21 men. Seething with possessive love, intrique, betrayal, denial, and a climactic night of reckoning, a family is torn apart as the truth is slowly revealed. Directed by Arthur Waldman
