Assistance Registration Deadline is March 1
OCEAN COUNTY residents who have yet to register for disaster assistance through the Federal Emergency Management Agency must do so by the approaching deadline of March 1.
People with storm losses can register online at www.DisasterAssistance.gov or via smartphone or tablet at m.fema.gov. Registration is also available by calling 800-621-3362, TTY 800-462-7585 or 711/VRS. The toll-free telephone numbers operate from 7 a.m. to 1 a.m. seven days a week. Residents can also visit any one of the four disaster recovery centers in Ocean County including centers at the Brick Township Civic Center, 270 Chambers Bridge Road, Brick Township, the Bell Crest Plaza Shopping Center, 953 Fischer Boulevard, Toms River; the Little Egg Harbor Township Senior Center, 641 Radio Road, Little Egg Harbor Township and the Ocean County Southern Service Center at Routes 9 and 72 in Stafford Township.
FEMA registrations in Ocean County so far total 53,677.
The disaster registration process serves as a referral point for FEMA programs and those of partner agencies such as the U.S. Small Business Administration, American Red Cross and the Salvation Army in addition to other potential assistance.
FEMA disaster assistance for individuals and families can include money for rental assistance, essential home repairs, personal property and other serious disaster-related needs not covered by insurance.
