Ocean County Clerk's Election Office Offers Special Hours

TOMS RIVER - Ocean County Clerk Scott M. Colabella is reminding voters that deadlines to obtain a Vote By Mail Ballot for the upcoming Tuesday, Nov. 5 General Election are rapidly approaching. In order to accommodate voters, Colabella is offering special hours on Tuesday, Oct. 29 and Saturday, Nov. 2.

"In an effort to assist voters in obtaining a Vote By Mail Ballot for the General Election, the Ocean County Clerk's Election Office in Toms River will be open until 8 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 29 and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 2," Colabella announced.

All applications for Vote By Mail Ballots for the Nov. 5 General Election that are sent through the mail needed to arrive in the County Clerk's Office by Tuesday, Oct. 29.

After that date, registered voters in Ocean County must apply in person at the County Clerk's Election Office to obtain a Mail-In Ballot for the General Election. Voters do not need a reason to vote by mail in New Jersey.

The deadline for obtaining a Mail-In Ballot in person is 3 p.m., Monday, Nov. 4. After 3 p.m., Monday, voters must obtain a court order from a Judge allowing them to apply for a mail-in ballot. The Election Office is located in the Ocean County Courthouse, 118 Washington Street, Room 107, Toms River.

As of Oct. 29, the County Clerk's Election Office issued more than 17,000 Vote by Mail Ballots for the upcoming Nov. 5th General Election.

All voters who wish to apply in person for a Mail-In Ballot need to present proper identification, for example a valid New Jersey Drivers' License, to prove their identity and sign their name as it appears in the voter registry book.

Individuals may contact the County Clerk's Election Office at (732) 929-2153 for additional information on mail-in ballots.

Over 379,000 Sample Ballots will be mailed prior to the November 5thGeneral Election providing registered voters with a copy of the Official Ballot that will appear on voting machines as well as the polling place location for the 412 election districts throughout Ocean County.

Colabella added that a copy of the Official Sample Ballot and polling location addresses for all 33 municipalities are also available at www.oceancountyclerk.com, the County Clerk's internet web site.
