COUNTY CONNECTION TO HOST HEALTH FAIR ON JULY 23
SERVICES RANGING from chronic disease screenings to alcohol and drug abuse treatment and prevention will be part of a health fair at the County Connection in the Ocean County Mall on Wednesday, July 23.
Sponsored by the Ocean County Health Department, the fair runs from 10 am to 2 pm and is open to the public.
"This is a great opportunity for our residents to take advantage of the many programs offered by the Health Department," said Freeholder John P. Kelly, liaison to the County Connection.
Kelly, who is also Director of Law and Public Safety, said the County Connection's convenient location in the mall makes it an ideal spot to host the health fair.
Among the services offered will be:
" Chronic Disease screenings, including bone density, stroke screenings and blood pressure checks. TDAP vaccines will be available at a cost of $20.
" Mental Health information from representatives of the Ocean County Mental Health Board.
" Nutritional information from the WIC (Women, Infants and Children) program.
" Representatives from the Health Department's Alcohol and Drug Unit.
" HIV Counseling, testing and referral.
" Hurricane preparedness.
" Medicare fraud prevention with representatives from the Senior Medicare Patrol of New Jersey.
Also attending will be several of the Health Department's health educators.
Freeholder Gerry P. Little, liaison to the Ocean County Board of Health, encouraged residents to take advantage of the many free screenings and services that will be offered.
"Stop by the air-conditioned mall and have your blood pressure checked in between stops at your favorite stores," Little said.
Freeholder Director Joseph H. Vicari agreed, saying the health fair is a unique and easy way for residents to learn more about the services offered by the Ocean County Health Department.
"It's also chance to have a few health screenings that you may have been putting off," Vicari said.
