A COLLABORATIVE of agencies in Ocean County will be conducting a "Point-in-Time" survey and Project Homeless Connect on Wednesday, Jan. 24 at various sites throughout the County.

The annual survey is part of a statewide effort to obtain an accurate count of New Jersey's homeless population.

According to the Ocean County Homelessness Prevention and Assistance Coalition, which is participating in the statewide Project: Homeless Connect and Point-in-Time Count, the count helps determine the number of people who are homeless or at imminent risk of homelessness in a community and engages those individuals in appropriate services.

The Project Homeless Connect sites in Ocean County are Ocean County Hunger Relief, Inc., 21 Germania Station Road, Toms River; Toms River Community Church, 22 Robbins St., Toms River; New Life Christian Center, 211 East 4th St., Lakewood; The House of Hope, 253 Chestnut St., Toms River; St. Francis Community Center at the Ocean County Southern Service Center, 179 South Main St., Manahawkin, and the Greater Tuckerton Food Pantry, 148 North Green St., Tuckerton. Most sites open at 9 a.m. with the exception of the Toms River Community Church which will open at 10 a.m. and close at 2 p.m. Most other sites will close at 4 p.m. with the exception of House of Hope which closes at 3 p.m.

Many of the sites will be offering health screenings along with food and clothing. Information about services available in Ocean County, and emergency contact numbers, will also be provided.

Point-in-Time Survey Sites are: Catholic Charities, 200 Monmouth Ave., Lakewood; Visitation Relief Center, Laurelton Square, 1930 Route 88, Brick Township; Ocean County Library, Main Branch, 101 Washington St., Toms River; BEAT Center, 1769 Hooper Ave., Toms River and the Lakewood Community Center, 20 4th St., Lakewood. The survey sites will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
