Ocean County Southern Complex Grand Opening - October 2008

With the cutting of the ceremonial red ribbon, Ocean County officials marked the grand opening of new government facilities along Haywood Road in Manahawkin on Oct. 24, 2008. Now county departments including Vehicle Services, Roads, Transportation, Board of Social Services, Health Department and Solid Waste Management are in new and expanded facilities that can accommodate services and programs for a growing population now and into the future.

A larger part of the 42,000 square foot complex centerpiece is the Recycling Building. In addition to the new 24-hour drop-off for bottles, cans, newspapers, mixed paper, cardboard, old clothing and household batteries, other items that can be recycled during normal hours of operation include tires, waste oil, anti-freeze, computers, cell phones, leaves, brush, empty steel paint cans, paint, car batteries and household batteries.
