Transportation Mini-Grant Program
|
WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO PARTICIPATE?
Organizations/Agencies that provide or intend to provide transportation service for senior citizens and/or individuals with disabilities are eligible to apply for a transportation grant. Applicants must be non-profit, tax-exempt organizations (with 501(c)(3) IRS designation) and include a copy of the Federal tax-exempt status. New applicants will
not be considered this year.
WHAT ACTIVITIES ARE ELIGIBLE?
Eligible activities may include door-to-door transportation service, fixed-route service, a user subsidy program, or local fare subsidy program. Trips are restricted within Ocean County ONLY. Note: The transport of meals or other goods is not an eligible activity under this program. Due to budgetary constraints, Ocean Ride will primarily be available for “Special Trips” Monday through Friday only.
If awarded a Ocean County Transportation Mini-Grant, the organization agrees to sign and abide by the federal Title VI Non-Discrimination Policy and NJ TRANSIT’s Code of Ethics Letter.
WHAT TYPE OF GRANTS ARE AVAILABLE?
Operating grants may cover costs associated with but not limited to a driver’s salary, contracted services, gasoline, and insurance. Applicants may request an operating grant of up to $2,000. One operating grant will be awarded per organization, not per program.
WILL GRANTS BE AWARDED EVERY YEAR?
No new applicants will be considered for 2012. Grants should be considered a one-time funding award. The County cannot guarantee this funding in future years. Applicants may apply to the County in subsequent years for transportation assistance. All grant funding is awarded on a competitive need basis.
All grant funding is awarded on a competitive need basis. Applications will be mailed out to qualified participants by February 1st and must be completed by March 1st of each year.
Any applications unsigned, NOT FILLED OUT COMPLETELY, or received after this deadline will not be accepted. There will be no exceptions. Successful applicants must enter into a contractual agreement with the County.
