Blue Star Banner Honors County Residents

Army Sgt. 1st Class David Taylor presents Ocean County Freeholders Gerry P. Little and John P. Kelly with a Blue Star Banner honoring county residents serving in the armed forces. Sgt. Taylor, an Army Recruiter who works in Toms River, recently conferred a banner and plaque to Brick Memorial High School in recognition of staff and former students who are now serving their nation. Similar presentations are scheduled at other area high schools in the coming months.

Annual Turkey Giveaway

On November 21st and 22nd, Ocean County Veterans Service Bureau continued their twelfth annual turkey giveaway.

Approximately three hundred turkeys were distributed to Ocean County Veterans and their families.

The Veterans receiving turkeys also received a holiday box of 'fixings' to make a complete Thanksgiving Day meal.

Helping distribute the turkeys were volunteers from various local and state Veteran Service Organizations.

The program was started by Chapter 200 of the Vietnam Veterans of America (Brick,NJ) in 1985, when 6 turkeys were distributed.

Contact the Ocean County Veterans Service Bureau at (732) 929-2096, or visit the  Ocean County One-Stop Center for more information.
