Location

The Borough of Lakehurst Historical Museum is housed in the oldest Roman Catholic Church in Ocean County. Old St. John's Church was established in 1874. The museum was opened in 1993. The old jail cell and the replica of the Jersey Devil are the children's favorites. Many pictures and artifacts depict the busy railroad era with a running model of the Blue Comet train.

The Hindenburg disaster is the highlight of the museum, with pictures, newspapers, books an artifacts telling of this historic event. The museum also showcases a beautiful music box dated 1864 and a gramophone from 1900.

The annual fund-raiser for the Lakehurst Historical Society Museum is the Fourth of July Car Show. The event includes trophies for the cars, food and crafts, silent auction and culminates with fireworks over Lake Horicon.
