Dog Parks An Off-Leash Dog Park is a contained area where dog owners can allow their pets to run free and exercise off-leash. The increase in Ocean County's population has reduced the number of places where dog owners can let their dogs run free. As a result, many owners use park facilities as a place to exercise their dogs. Conflicts often arise with other park users when the mandatory leash law is ignored. Off-leash Dog Parks provide a safe place for dogs while alleviating conflicts in other parks. The Ocean County Department of Parks and Recreation has two Off-Leash Dog Areas: Robert J. Both Off-leash Dog Parks open at 8:00 a.m. Closing times vary by season. The Off-leash Dog Parks close one-half hour BEFORE the closing time of the park they are located in. Beginning in January 2013, both parks will be staffed by an attendant three (3) hours after opening and three (3) hours before closing. Registration Requirements: Current township dog license Proof of up-to-date vaccinations Payment of required fee Proof that all male dogs are neutered Beginning in January 2013, the annual fee has been reduced to $5.00 per dog.
