Out and About in Ocean County Parks
with Freeholder John C. Bartlett, Jr.

Chairman, Parks and Recreation

Freeholder John C. Bartlett, Chairman of Ocean County NJ Parks and RecreationFreeholder John C. Bartlett, the Chairman of Parks and Recreation, has been actively involved in the acquisition and development of parks in Ocean County for almost two decades.  His love of the outdoors and nature is obvious when he takes off his jacket and tie, dons his sneakers, and leads "the best of them" on trails through wetlands, bogs and pinelands, looking for the next County Park.  The look on his face when he comes upon a secluded pond teeming with animals and plants is of pure ecstasy, for he truly loves Ocean County and its amazing environmental diversity.  His passion for the preservation of open space has resulted in a tremendous increase in County parkland since 1980, and he is not content yet...more parks will be forthcoming!
Freeholder Bartlett talks to Parks & Recreation staff members during Ocean County Fair Freeholder Bartlett is always interested in Park projects, and can often be found talking and working with Parks staff and volunteers alike. Freeholder Bartlett discusses the completed deck at Cattus Island County Park with Eagle Scouts who volunteered for the project.
