Perfect score on our NJ State DOC Annual Inspection

I would personally like to thank and commend all of the Officers, Civilian employees and Contract staff on your contributions in making the Ocean County Department of Corrections receive a perfect score on our annual inspection by the NJ State DOC.

This is truly quite an accomplishment and reflects the professionalism, hard work and pride that is displayed by our staff members.

The Ocean County Department of Corrections hires the best and brightest in all applicable job titles. Career opportunities include County Correction Officer; Counselor, Penal Institution; Aide, Penal Institution and a variety of other essential clerical and support titles.

All hiring is coordinated through the New Jersey Civil Service Commission through competitive exams or through the intergovernmental transfer program.

The Ocean County Department of Corrections is the main custodian of all adult offenders arrested for violations of laws within the County of Ocean. The safety, welfare and control of all inmates within the Ocean County Jail is the main responsibility of the Department of Corrections and its employees.

The Department of Corrections provides internal and external security for the jail facility as well as for the citizens in the surrounding community at large. The value of any law enforcement agency is defined by the principles that guide it.
