The Department of Transportation Services county transit system, Ocean Ride, includes two major services. the Reserve-A-Ride Program and local bus routes. Reserve-A-Ride provides door-to-door, non-emergency medical transportation service to seniors (age 60 and over) and person with disabilities. This service is offered by advanced registration basis primarily to destinations within Ocean County.

Ocean County Transportation Public Hearing

Ocean County Transportation Service will hold its annual FY 2014 SCDRTAP Public Hearing on Thursday, June 20, 2013 at 101 Hooper Avenue, Room 119, Toms River, NJ at 1:00 PM. Limited accessible transportation will be made available by calling Ocean Ride at 732.736.8989 extension 223 no later than 12:00 noon, Friday, June 7, 2013. Please call 732-736-8989, ext. 244 if you have any questions.

Ocean County employees can now take advantage of a new carpool service sponsored by the Ocean County Board of Chosen Freeholders and the Transportation Management Association for Ocean County (TMA).

Green commuters that car/vanpool, ride transit or bike to work can now receive rewards by signing up to participate in the TMA's Green Commuter Rewards program. Register here

The Ocean Ride transportation system currently includes 12 bus routes which operate throughout Ocean County ( PDF map of routes). The routes are designed to connect key residential areas with popular destinations such as local governmental facilities, healthcare, shopping, employment, social services and other transit connections. The bus routes operate on a fixed schedule, making it easy for you to plan your trip!

Ocean Ride is a service of the Ocean County Board of Chosen Freeholders.

Freeholder Gerry P. Little is the Freeholder Liaison for the Department of Transportation Services.

Funding for the Ocean Ride System is provided by County tax dollars as well as state and federal grants. The Board of Chosen Freeholders contribute more than 49% of the total annual budget.
