The Ocean County Department of Corrections is the main custodian of all adult offenders arrested for violations of laws within the County of Ocean. The safety, welfare and control of all inmates within the Ocean County Jail is the main responsibility of the Department of Corrections and its employees.

The Department of Corrections provides internal and external security for the jail facility as well as for the citizens in the surrounding community at large. The value of any law enforcement agency is defined by the principles that guide it.

Ocean County Department of Corrections in full compliance with N.J.A.C.10A:31
On April 20-21, 2023 and April 24-28, 2023, the Department of Corrections, through its office of County Services, conducted an inspection on the Ocean County Department of Corrections. The authority to perform the inspection is granted by N.J.A.C. 10A:31, the "manual of Standards of new jersey Adult County Correctional Facilities."
