Master Composter Training Courses take place during Fall every year, the class is usually 2 Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. 2020 dates TBA. The premise of this 12-hour program is for the county to train volunteers, who then agree to provide a total of 24 hours of outreach, education, and service to promote the benefits of home composting. This program is provided free of charge to Ocean County residents and taxpayers. The non-resident fee is $75.00 per person. Non-residents must also complete their outreach commitment within Ocean County.

Training is held at the Ocean County Recycling Education Center, located at the county's Northern Recycling Center in Lakewood Township.
