Security Department

The Ocean County Security Department, Established in 1980, is the “front line” contact with not only the park visitor, but at many County facilities throughout our area. Security Guards are prepared to respond with professional competence in situations that require enforcement action.

The County Security Guard provides for the safety, protection and enjoyment of the park visitor and anyone entering a County-owned building. Security Guards assist with traffic control, parking, and general security at the many events hosted by the Ocean County Parks Department and are trained in First Aid and CPR. All Security vehicles are equipped with Defibrillators (AED).

The Ocean County Security Department also has a special team that patrols open space areas purchased by the County under the Natural Lands Trust Fund to check for dumping and other issues on the property. This team is led by Senior Guard Shaun Curtin.

In addition to the Patrol of County Property, the Security Department has a Training Unit that provides training to County employees on several different topics, and our Bike Patrol team conducts training on Basic Bicycle Safety for schools and youth organizations throughout Ocean County, as well as Bicycle Safety checks.

The Security Department can be contacted 24 hours a day by calling our Dispatch Office at: (732) 929-4758

Ocean County Commissioner John P. Kelly serves as Commisioner Liaison to the Security Department.
