Ocean Ride provides weekly food shopping trips to several popular local shopping centers.

Waretown/Barnegat Shoppers Loop

Ocean Ride provides local bus service to Waretown residents to go food shopping.

Advance registration is required by calling Ocean Town Hall at (609) 693-3302 ext 221. We ask that you make your reservation each week by calling no later than 4:30 pm the Friday before service.

The service is provided to seniors (age 60 and over) and persons with disabilities (age 18 and over) and the general public.

The fare is $1.00 for seniors (age 60 and over) and persons with disabilities (age 18 and over) and $2.00 for the General Public. Exact change is required.

Waretown Shoppers Loop Service Description:

TUESDAYS – Assorted Route 72 Destinations (Kohl’s, Home Depot, Walmart, Pathmark, Kmart & Staples) Stafford Square Mall and Stafford Park

2nd TUESDAYS of Alternating Months (6 months a year: February, April, June, August, October and December):

Service to Ocean County Mall – Departs 9:00 AM
Pick-up 9:00 AM from Township of Ocean, Engle Sprague – Senior Center, 239 11th Street, Waretown. No home pick-ups for this service.

Barnegat Shoppers Loop

Ocean Ride provides this service on Fridays ONLY. This service makes home pick-ups. Start pick-up time is 9:00am.

Service to: Genuardi’s, Bay Shore Plaza - Banks (Route 9), Food Pantry, Post Office, OC Library & Shop-Rite (Waretown)

• PICK-UPS begin at 9:00 AM
• DEPARTS Plaza at 12:00 Noon

Service to Ocean County Mall 2nd TUESDAY of Alternating Months (February, April, June, August, October & November)

The fare is $1.00 for seniors (age 60 and over) and persons with disabilities (age 18 and over) and $2.00 for the General Public. Exact change is required.

Reservations are needed. Please call the Barnegat Chamber of Commerce for pick-up at (609) 698-0080 ext #193.

Jackson Shoppers Loop

The service is open to seniors (age 60 and over) and persons with disabilities (age 18 and over) on Fridays ONLY. This service provides Home Pick-ups to Shop-Rite/Kohl’s Plaza. Advanced reservation is required by calling the Jackson Senior Center at 732-928-2313 no later than Wednesday at 4:00 pm. 

The fare is $1.00 for Senior Citizens & persons with disablities and $2.00 for the General Public. Exact change is required.

The service is open to seniors & persons with disabilities and the general public on Friday's only.

Inclement Weather Policy:

For your safety during the winter months, Ocean Ride requires that you must have your driveway and/or path clear of snow and ice in order for our Drivers to safely pick you up at your door. Any person who believes that she or he has been aggrieved by any unlawful discriminatory practice under the ADA may file a complaint in writing to Ocean Ride. To file a complaint, or for more information on Ocean Ride’s obligations under ADA write to: Ocean Ride, P.O. Box 2191, Toms River, NJ 08754-2191.

Transportation services provided by this agency are in whole or part funded through federal funds received through NJ TRANSIT and as an individual you also have the right to file your complaint under ADA to both Ocean Ride as well as the U.S. Department of Justice, 950 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW Civil Rights Division Disability Rights Section – NYA, Washington, D.C. 20530. A complaint must be filed within 180 days of the alleged discrimination.

Passengers are allowed to bring portable medical oxygen and/or service animal on board the vehicle. This information is available in large format.

Reasonable Modification Policy

The Ocean County Department of Transportation Services (Ocean Ride) will make a reasonable attempt to provide additional assistance requested by any passengers with disabilities so as long as the request does not present a direct threat of safety to the passenger(s) and/or the county employee and/or the request does not alter the fundamental transportation services provided by the County of Ocean.

To make a “Reasonable Modification” request, you must call a day in advance of travel and contact Ocean Ride at (732) 736-8989, Ext. 4.
